This
is the year to attend the Cook Forest Area
Scenic Trail Ride. We are the horse lovers
paradise. We are continually updating our
facility, clearing new trails, and serving
you the best down home cooking in the East.
We keep the food good and plentiful with
variety and quality. Our goal is to keep you
happy, satisfied, able to relax and enjoy the
best in horseback riding. You don't have to
worry about anything. Sit back and let us do
all the work for you.
Bring
your horse or rent one from us and ride
through the remote areas of Northwestern
Pennsylvania on the Southern borders of the
Allegheny National Forest. You will be
watering your horse in cool spring fed
streams.
Each
day we will cover different trails among
which will be scenic woodlands, crystal clear
streams and backwoods trails. We have well
trimmed and laid out trails that are sure to
be exciting for the veteran rider and trails
that are well suited for the beginner. If you
are a new trailrider be sure to ask Ray, when
you arrive, which ride would best suit your
needs.
We
will be featuring two rides leaving
camp a day. This assures you of having a variety of terrain to choose from. There will be one ride for those who like it long and one for those who like it shorter.
When
riding expect to see some wildlife. Bear,
turkey, deer and many other forms of wildlife
roam the hillsides on a regular basis.
Don't
forget your camera for these special
occasions of wildlife experiences and
picturesque landscapes.
We will continue to mark even more trails for your convenience. We also will make up trail maps for your usage!
For years trailriders from across the world have enjoyed the diversity of woodland trails and logging roads composing the 300 miles of cleared paths for horse people to utilize at their stay here in beautiful northwestern Pennsylvania. Many choose to ride on their own while others prefer to be guided. This year we have developed trail maps and marked trails.
-
Miller's Rocks
Very beautiful ride crossing one of the most scenic areas on the Clarion River. This ride takes 4 hours but can be adapted to 6 hours if desired by exiting onto connecting logging roads. This is a beautiful picnic location out in the wilderness.
-
Ole Country Store Trail
This trail is a 3-1/2 hour ride which you can stop by the "Heiland Meadow Country Store" and hitch up to their hitching rail provided for our riders. Look around the store and have a cold sasparilla
when they are open. The owner recently has had health
issues & is not always open. Phone ahead or ask at camp to
be sure.
New for 2009...
Then, visit next door to "Kalyumet Hut & Mini Golf" for a
tasty treat and enjoy their variety of food choices & a game
of miniature golf also. On your return trip to camp be alert
for wildlife and enjoy the scenery of woodlands and the
Clarion River.
-
Dew Drop Inn Trail
This is a beautiful 5 hour ride. In the middle of the ride sets the Inn where you can tie up your horses and enjoy a hot lunch. They have the greatest chicken salad and are famous for their chicken wing selection.
-
Toby Creek Ride
This is a nice 3 hour ride along creek side. This is a shaded woodland ride which can be converted to 4, 5, or 6 hours of riding.
-
Bessie Dewey Ride
This is a beautiful 5 hour ride preferred for all its scenic overviews.
**Remember, if you choose not to be guided nor use
